Haringey Council, NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board (NHS NCL ICB) and borough partners have created a Haringey Community Chest to provide grants to the voluntary sector to support the development of community-based initiatives to help Haringey residents and patients improve their health and wellbeing through delivering Healthy Neighbourhoods.
What does it aim to do?
The key objectives of the Chest are to offer grants to the voluntary sector to:
- Strengthen range of early intervention projects particularly in collaboration with statutory partners
- Support development of a more resilient, collaborative and sustainable voluntary sector
- Fund community-based projects to improve health, well-being and life chances of people of all ages
The chest can be used to support new ideas or build on and further enhance existing initiatives relating to:
- Arts, and culture, including libraries, museums, and heritage
- Sport, leisure and physical activity
- Financial wellbeing, advice, food/diet and practical support
- Environment and nature-based
- Non-statutory health and care organisations, working with social prescribing link workers
However, all initiatives must support delivery of either of the four Healthy Neighbourhood themes:
- Theme 1: Empowering People
- Theme 2: Best Start in Life
- Theme 3: Improving Long-term Conditions
- Theme 4: Supporting More Vulnerable People
Who can apply for the grant?
The grant is available to voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations and groups who want to support people within the east wards of Haringey.
In addition, applicants must have a presence in Haringey, i.e., the applicant is based in the borough and/or is involved in the delivery of projects/initiatives across Haringey.
How much can you apply for?
There are three levels of funding, each with a proportionate expectation of outcomes:
- Micro grant (up to £5,000)
- Small grant (£5,001 – £9,999)
- Medium grant (£10,000 – £49,000)
Match or in-kind funding is not required but applications that are able to attract additional funds and in-kind volunteering, venue hire, project materials and equipment would be encouraged.
How can you apply and what is the deadline?
The Community Chest launches on Monday, 9th January 2023.
Interested applicants are to complete the appropriate application form, i.e. micro, small, or medium-to-large grant application form, and submit it to communitychest@haringey.gov.uk by 5pm, Tuesday 31st January 2023.
