In recent days, the Prime Minister has told us all to stay at home and to limit our journeys outside of our homes. Over the last week, footfall across London has rapidly dropped by nearly 45% while in Wood Green during the same period, it has only dropped by 14%.
While the Business Improvement District would usually see this as a positive thing, in the climate we find ourselves we need to strongly urge people to stay away from Wood Green and other Town Centres unless they need essential food, household goods or medical supplies.
Transport for London staff at Wood Green and Turnpike Lane stations are also asking for those who do not need to travel to stay away from public transport as this is putting unnecessary strain on the service.
The BID would also like to urge all those who are providing takeaway services from cafes, restaurants or their outlets to only provide a delivery service where at all possible and take orders over the phone or online.
We urge people to follow the Government’s instructions to not a be in groups of more than two persons. Please stay at home to save lives and to protect the NHS.
