Wood Green Business Improvement District has today (Friday 24th February) received a Yes vote to carry on the work and projects for a second term to 2028. Every five years a BID has to go to ballot to receive a mandate to carry on its work.
Ginal Patel, Interim Chair of Wood Green BID says
“We would like to especially like to thank everyone who voted and made a contribution including those who are in Turnpike Lane. We know this is a very difficult time for many businesses and by working together under a new focus following your feedback, we will build up upon the work we have already started and focus on the projects which you have asked us to take forward. I would personally like to thank the BID Team, advisors and all whom have supported the BID throughout the last six months. “
Councillor Adam Jogee, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Jobs and Community Cohesion, Haringey Council adds
“We are delighted that Wood Green Business Improvement District (BID) has been successful at ballot and will operate for a second five-year term.
The ballot has taken place against the difficult backdrop of record levels of inflation resulting in the cost-of-living crisis and energy cost increases, with the impact of Brexit and the pandemic are still being felt. The positive outcome clearly shows the impact the BID has had in supporting its business community.
Since 2018, they have played an integral role in developing Wood Green town centre. They’ve supported businesses through the pandemic, introduced Street Rangers, been instrumental in the Business Crime Reduction Partnership with us and the Met Police and run a wide events programme including Haringey Pride, Community Fun Days and Christmas celebration activities to encourage visitors to the Wood Green.”
Officially, the second term of the BID will begin on July 1st 2023 but we will like to invite any levy businesses who would like to get involved in discussion and creating a updated plan, to please get in contact with the BID.
